Wayside House of Hamilton

A 5-week long-term residential program for men-identifying individuals over the age of 18. For people who want abstinence as their ultimate treatment goal.

This psychoeducation program addresses issues of self, feelings, relationships, communication, sexuality, spirituality and resilience in a gender-based, trauma-informed manner.

If you are interested in attending Wayside House, your referral must be submitted by a local community service agency. A list of service agencies near you can be found on Connex Ontario.

Exploring Trauma is a six-session program that focuses on the process of trauma and its impact on your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, values, behaviours and relationships.

Womankind Addiction Service
St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton

A six-week treatment program is available to women over the age of 18. Womankind Addiction Service provides a range of gender specific substance use programs, supporting women seeking change with their substance use.

It offers a withdrawal service as well as an in-house and day treatment. A 26-bed facility located in West Hamilton. It offers:

  • Withdrawal service

  • mindfulness practice
  • social, recreational and peer-led programs with trauma-informed care
  • strengths-based and
  • relapse prevention perspectives

A current GAIN Q3 assessment and the Womankind Treatment Referral Package must accompany the referral to treatment.

Holmes House - representation

Treatment Service

Holmes House

Part of Norfolk General Hospital and funded by the Ministry of Health, Holmes House provides a safe, welcoming space for individuals aged 16 and older. Holmes House is a community-based addiction support program. 

They offer services that include 24/7 bed-based withdrawal management and a variety of treatment programs, including a 21-day residential program or a day treatment program. 

Their service offers the following:

  • One-on-one counseling
  • Skill-building on emotional regulation
  • Peer support group
  • Family support
  • Addictions Supportive Housing up to a year
  • Aftercare is ongoing counselling, group support, and connections to community resources.

Applicants must be substance-free for at least 72 hours before their admission date. They recommend attending a withdrawal management program, a RAAM Clinic, or another similar service beforehand.

Native Horizons Treatment Centre

Helping Indigenous peoples reclaim their heritage, culture, and identity through a six-week program. A range of evidence-based therapies and services, including individual counselling, group therapy, traditional healing practices, and educational workshops.

They offer short- and long-term residential treatment programs, day treatment, and comprehensive outpatient substance abuse programs that honour Indigenous traditions and values.

However, the facility is not medically equipped, so they cannot accommodate individuals on Methadone, Suboxone, Narcotics (such as Tylenol-3), Ativan, or any Anti-Psychotic medications.

Acceptance is achieved through referrals from community-based frontline workers, such as NNADAP representatives, mental health workers, counsellors, and Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Service. Agencies.
